YEHU Microfinance Ltd – Kenya

YEHU Enterprises Support Services (YESS) was established in 1998 as an NGO to mobilise the savings of its members. The demand for credit quickly arose and in the year 2000, YESS began its credit activities. Its growth led the structure to become independent and in April 2016, YESS transformed into YEHU Microfinance Ltd.

The MFI wants to give rural and marginalised micro-entrepreneurs the means to act socially and economically by improving access to innovative, accessible and sustainable financial solutions, thus respecting the environment. YEHU focuses its operations in the coastal area of Kenya, an area much less served by the microfinance industry. The institution mainly targets women (92% of clients) and the population living in rural areas (70% of clients) via a group loan methodology. The credits offered by YEHU are associated with a training offer in financial education and business management.

The institution has 15 branches and supports more than 30,000 clients through its financial and educational support.
