INKUNGA Finance
Kibuye, Rwanda

INKUNGA Finance Plc derives from the INKUNGA Savings and Credit Cooperative created in 1995 in Rwanda. The cooperative transformed into a commercial microfinance company in 2016 and into a licensed Microfinance Institution in 2017.

The MFI is mainly active in the Western Province and its surroundings. The local economy is mainly composed of traditional and commercial agriculture such as coffee (20% of the portfolio) on the shores of Lake Kivu and tea in the mountainous areas of the Congo-Nile Ridge.

The institution supports more than 22,000 clients, including 21% of young people under 25 years, 41% women and 100% of their clients live in rural areas.

INKUNGA has 4 branches and 5 counters covering 3 districts of the country. The institution’s clients have access to savings products and various credits such as agricultural credit, trade, construction and rehabilitation, social credit, salary credit and solidarity credit (group loan).

As INKUNGA is located in an essentially agricultural area, the institution has developed specific products for the financing of certain crops such as vegetables, bananas, rice and coffee, and also specific products for livestock. These products take into account the cycles of agricultural production.
