PILARH OPDF
Honduras, Central America

PILARH OPDF has been a partner of the Fund since 2011. Through this long-term partnership, PILARH has already benefited from 3 financing rounds. The institution combines very good financial and operational management, a strong social impact achieved through the commitment of management and governance and an important role in the financial inclusion of its clients. These characteristics among others and its excellent reputation have allowed PILARH to be one of the leading institutions in the rural microfinance sector in Honduras and throughout the region.

The origins of PILARH date back to 1986, with the launch of a project to grant credit to farmers and agricultural sector actors with the aim of promoting a more equitable distribution of land. The project evolved until in 2008. At this stage, PILARH OPDF obtained the regulated MFI license from the CNBS (National Banking and Insurance Commission) which authorises it to collect savings.

The institution specialises in providing quality rural financial services and focuses on providing adequate responses to the needs of farmers and micro-entrepreneurs to help improve their standard of living.

PILARH OPDF has nearly 15,000 clients, 47% of whom are women. The average disbursed loan is of EUR 1,390 and 90% of their clients live in rural areas.
